“Dr Petrina Wong is a fully accredited Specialist in Paediatrics with the Ministry of Health in Singapore. She focuses on childhood respiratory and sleep conditions, in addition to general paediatrics.”

Dr Petrina Wong graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2003. She obtained her postgraduate qualifications with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (UK) in 2007, and went on to attain accreditation as a Specialist in Paediatric Medicine in 2012. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

Prior to private practice, Dr Wong held the position of Consultant in the Respiratory Service, Department of Paediatrics, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She was Adjunct Assistant Professor in Duke- NUS Medical School and Clinical Senior Lecturer at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. She continues to be a Visiting Consultant to KK Hospital.

Having trained in various paediatric specialties for the last 15 years, Dr Wong has a wealth of experience when it comes to babies and children. Apart from general paediatrics which include newborn and well-baby screening, childhood immunisations, developmental assessments, nutrition and growth advice and management of common childhood conditions, Dr Wong also specialises in respiratory and sleep conditions like pneumonia, childhood wheezing, asthma, allergic rhinitis, snoring, sleep apnoea, parasomnias and behavioural sleep problems.

Dr Wong underwent subspecialty training in Paediatric Sleep at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, USA in 2013. She is accredited as a Paediatric Respiratory Medicine Specialist by the Asian Paediatric Pulmonology Society; and received the European Diploma in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine by the European Respiratory Society in 2016. In addition, she is certified by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists for Clinical Sleep Health and as a polysomnologist.

Dr Wong is actively involved in the management of children with complex respiratory and sleep disorders, and helped to set up the multidisciplinary Neuromuscular Clinic in KKH. She was appointed KKH Service Chief in the SingHealth- Duke Sleep Centre in 2017.

Dr Wong participates actively in local and international conferences and has authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals. With a passion in promoting the importance of good sleep in child health, Dr Wong contributes regularly to public forums and parenting magazines.

As a recognition for work excellence and her dedication to patients, Dr Wong was awarded the SingHealth Outstanding Medical Officer Award in 2004, and the KKH Service from the Heart Award in 2014.

Dr Wong is able to converse fluently in English and Chinese, and can communicate in Malay.

As a mother herself, Dr Wong can empathise with parents when their young ones fall sick. She believes that every child should be given a chance to lead a happy and healthy life. She has helped and supported many children and their families, and remains committed to serving her patients well.

Dr Wong currently operates at SOG – Petrina Wong Clinic for Children Respiratory and Sleep in Gleneagles Medical Centre.
